The Erasmus (European Region Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students) program is a European Union initiative that promotes multifaceted cooperation between higher education institutions in Europe. Thanks to this program, students have the opportunity to gain international experience by studying at universities across Europe.

As Piri Reis University aims to be a higher education institution at international standards, it has become the first university in Turkey to gain the extended membership (EUCX) right granted by the EU Commission Executive agency in its first academic year. EUCX membership, which is different from standard Erasmus membership (EUC), allows long-term student and faculty exchanges with any university within the European Union, student internship mobility, and the execution of joint European Union projects.

The Erasmus+ program is a European Union education and training program that aims to improve the quality of higher education in Europe. To achieve this, the Program encourages collaborations between higher education institutions in Europe. Partnerships and mobility activities are financially supported by the Programme.

In addition to cooperation between higher education institutions, the Erasmus+ program promotes cooperation between higher education institutions and the labor market so that universities can meet the needs of the labor market and graduates have better employability opportunities. The European Commission is responsible for the overall implementation of the Erasmus+ Programme. Actions are managed by national agencies in the 33 participating countries or by the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency, headquartered in Brussels. In 2014, our University was entitled to the Erasmus+ declaration, which covers all activities. Erasmus education mobility, which started in the Spring semester of the 2011-2012 academic year at our university, continues with the participation of an increasing number of our students every year.

Piri Reis University Department of Computer Engineering has existing bilateral agreements with universities in various countries in Europe in order to make the most of the opportunities offered by this program. Additionally, efforts are continuing to conclude new agreements. In this way, our students can receive quality education at an international level and gain a global perspective by getting to know different cultures. The Erasmus program offers our students not only academic knowledge but also experiences that will provide them with a competitive advantage in the global business world.
