What is a Double Major?
A double major allows a student to complete two different undergraduate programs simultaneously. This enables students to acquire knowledge and skills in various fields, expanding their career options after graduation. By pursuing a double major, students can specialize in one field while gaining qualifications in another.
Double Major Options for Electrical and Electronics Engineering Students:
- Computer Engineering: Students can gain in-depth knowledge of software and hardware, allowing them to effectively apply information technologies in electrical and electronics projects.
- Business Administration or Economics: This program combines engineering knowledge with business management, offering career opportunities in engineering and management positions.
- Industrial Engineering: Students who acquire knowledge in efficiency and process management can develop a more systematic approach to engineering projects.
Application and Admission Requirements for Double Major Programs:
Applications for the double major program are submitted to the Student Affairs Office with an application form and transcript within the dates announced in the academic calendar. Students can apply for a double major program as early as the beginning of their 3rd semester and at the latest by the beginning of their 5th semester. To be eligible, students must have successfully completed all the courses they have taken in their major undergraduate program up to the application period, have a minimum cumulative GPA (CGPA) of 3.00, and rank in the top 20% of their major program.
If the number of applicants exceeds the faculty’s designated quota, students with higher CGPAs are given priority. If CGPAs are equal, the percentage ranking in the major program is considered. Applications from students who meet the necessary requirements are forwarded by the Student Affairs Office to the relevant faculty or faculties. Students cannot be enrolled in more than one double major program simultaneously or in both a double major and a minor program.
What is a minor?
In our department, students who meet the conditions set by our university have the opportunity to pursue a minor in another department alongside their main field of study, in areas they are interested in and wish to develop further.
